Participation

Each country can be represented by 12 competitors and 4 officials. Competitiors shall be born between January 1, 1968, and December 31, 1978, and shall be

  1. students who are officially registered at a univesity or similar institute whose status as a university is recognised by the appropriate national academic authority of their country or
  2. former students of the institutions mentioned in 1) who have obtained their academic degree or diploma in 1995.

Those competitors who came from a country, where the number of the inhabitants is less than 2000000 or the number of the students does not reach the value of 5000 can they be students of secondary schools if they attended that institute for at least for two years.

Rules

The World Championship will be held according to the latest FISU rules (based on the IOF regulations).

Terrain

Hill country, the altitude above the sea level is 150-440 metre. The configuration of the terrain can be listed in 2 groups:

  1. With gentle features of the ground: little valleys, ridges, cones, craggymountain-ridges, grove and intermediary runnable cover of ground
  2. Parallel ridges, valleys, rock masses, the ground cover is open, half-open and well runnable pinewoods

New maps will be made based on IOF standard with the field-works of 1995-1996, 1:15000, 5 m contour interval.

Entries

General entries indicating participation and the approximate size of the team shall be sent to the secretariat until 01.02.1996., using the yellow entry form. The blue copy shall be sent to the FISU. The red copy remains with you.

Costs

US$ 40 per day and per person, including accomodation, full board, transportation and maps for all model events and competitions. US$ 10 per person (competitors and officials) as an entry fee to FISU (US$ 20 for nonmembers of FISU) for the whole week.

Food

Meals are prepared by the canteen at the centre. Breakfast and dinner will always take place at the centre's canteen.
Packed lunch will be given at breakfast. (Be sure to indicate the number of vegetarians on the nominative entry form.)

Flags

Teams must bring their own national flag (1 x 1.5m) for the ceremonies. Those teams that recon on winning more than once in one class eg: gold, silver, bronze must consider bringing the appropriate number of flags.

Visa

Those who need to get a visa to enter Hungary can ask for an invitation letter at the Secretariat.To our knowledge citizens of Japan and Australia need visa for Hungary.

Training

Training is possible with the official training maps. They can be ordered from the secretariat. Price per copy is US$ 3 for all areas. Maps are available in 1:15000. A map of area 8. (Tálodi-erdõ) is enclosed to Bulletin No. 3.

Accomodation

The competitors and officials will be accomodated in the University Hostel in the Competition Centre. Rooms with 4 beds.
Teams or individuals arriving earlier than 14th July may inform the secreteriat.
Other accomoddation facilities are available on request. We will try to help you in finding a suitable one according to the next possibilities:

Those countries that pay the full entry fee of their team till 31.05.1996 will get 8% special discount. Every team has to pay 25% of the entry fee till 15.06.1996. The remaining 75% shall be paid till 15.07.1996.
We accept payment only in US Dollars.
Banks in the airports may be open on Sunday, and there will be a possibility of change at the competition centre in Veszprém.
The entry fee to FISU must be paid cash in US Dollars.

Accreditation

On arrival at the centre in Veszprém, the first thing to do is the accreditation.

For each runner, the team manager shall present:

  1. the passport or identity card indicating full name, nationality, date and place of birth, and including a photograph;
  2. for students a student card or certificate originating from the appropriate academic authority certifying that the runner is officially registered for and pursuing a full-time course of study;
  3. for students starting their studies in autumn 1996: a document proving that the runner has satisfied the conditions normally required in his country for entrance to a university or similar institute and a contestation of matriculation issued by the university;
  4. for former students a proof of date of obtaining his final academic degree or diploma;
  5. the FISU entry fee of US$ 10 (for non-members US$ 20).

For each official, the team manager shall present:

  1. the FISU entry fee of US$ 10 (for non-members US$ 20).

For the team, the team manager shall present:

  1. a list of the universities or similar institutes certified by the appropriate national academic authority of his country;
  2. 2. the flag of his country (see "flags").

The correctly filled individual entry forms for runners and officials, including a recently taken photograph, must be sent to the secreteriat before 28 June 1996. Accreditation is greatly accelerated if all documents are prepared correctly. Teams with complete documents get priority for accreditation.

Nominative Entries

Nominative entries indicating the names of runners and officials shall be sent to the secretariat until 28 June 1996 using the forms for nominative entries. For each runner and official a correctly filled individual entry form with a recently taken photograph shall be enclosed.
